New Nikon 16-85 VR Lens Sighted
Yes, expect this to be announced in PMA 2008 as well. The, Nikon 16-85 f3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR, will probably end up as the standard kit lens on the rumored Nikon D60. This lens has a silent-wave motor (AF-S) and the vibration reduction (VR). This will be replacing the good old Nikon 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G ED-IF AF-S DX.
The icky part of the lens is that the largest aperture at the long end is f/5.6. Yikes! Now, if only that was a f/4.5, it would be a killer lens. Nevertheless, it is a great 24-128 35mm-equivalent of the DX world. With this addition, Nikon will have 15 lenses with VR. Here is a complete list of Nikon’s VR lenses:
